Ave Gitana, the Crowther 40 trimaran from the Bay of Islands is currently anchored in Paradise Bay, on Urupukapuka Island. All crew on board are ok.
Ave Gitana, skippered by Antonio Pasquale, and his three well seasoned offshore crew made it known to Race Management that they may seek shelter from the impending conditions before the race commenced on Sunday 3rd June at 1000 hours.

Ave Gitana could stay at anchor for 24 hours until they feel the conditions have eased for a continued safe passage to Noumea, New Caledonia.
Upon arrival to the Pacific Nation, Pasquale will then hand his boat over to Sharon Ferris and an all women’s team for the Groupama Round New Caledonia Race.
Ran Tan II, the Elliott 50 skippered by Brian Petersen is currently leading the fleet to Noumea at a steady 11knots.
