Blink, the Shaw 12 from Wellington, contacted our team in Noumea to give a very important and vital update.

“It’s Vesna here. I just wanted to let you know that we are enjoying a fabulous Spaghetti Bolognese dinner. We know it’s not French, but after 48 hours of being drenched, it’s a warm meal and we are happy.

“The last couple of days have been tough. On the nose, lots of breeze.

“But now we have the A3 up and the sea state is much nicer and the temperature is better. This is what the brochure said it would be like!

“Soon we hope to be enjoying cocktails in Noumea,” said owner/skipper Vesna Wells.

Sadly we had to inform Vesna that rain has been forecast for Noumea for the next fews days…

“Nooooooo, please tell me it isn’t so! We have had too many outdoor showers this race already!

“But regardless, we are all well and happy on board and are very much enjoying the sailing.”

Based on their current speed, Blink is due to finish the 998nm Auckland Noumea Yacht Race on Friday 8th June at 1115 hours.
